Friends of the Gum Spring Library (FROGS) is a non profit volunteer group that raises money to fund library programming. We believe libraries are community spaces where people can come together to learn, connect, create, find resources and of course, discover a good book.
FROGS support a host of library programs including book groups, Teen Book Boxes, DIY, craft and Maker programs for all ages. We fund monthly programs such as STEAM Club; Pre-K Skill Builders; Messy Monday and Art at the Library and provide supplies for Scavenger Hunts.
FROGS provide refreshments for programs such as Socrates and Snacks; March Pie Day and No Tech Tuesday and books for Magic Tree House Book Club.
FROGS help Gum Spring Library staff engage with the community by supporting such outreach events as “Trunk or Treat”, CASA, Summer Camp and school visits, South Riding’s Mosaic Festival and more.
FROGS make it possible for the library to host special one-time programs such as Nature Detectives; Star Wars Trivia; “I Survived the Oregon Trail” and Spy Camp. FROGS also helps fund outside presenters such as the musical group Cantare coming to Gum Spring later this summer.
